Qualification Description

The FireQual Level 4 Certificate in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment is a regulated qualification designed to develop the skills required to undertake fire risk assessments in buildings presenting a moderate level of risk.

At this level, the focus shifts from understanding principles to applying them in real environments.

You will learn how to analyse information, assess fire safety measures in more complex buildings, and make informed, proportionate recommendations based on risk. This includes understanding the limitations of fire protection systems, the role of enforcing authorities, and how building design and use influence fire development and spread.

The qualification is aligned to BS 8674:2025 and supports the Intermediate level competencies expected of those carrying out fire risk assessments on behalf of a Responsible Person or Duty Holder.

This is the step where your capability becomes practical, structured, and defensible.

How does it work?

You attend a four-day training course, delivered either in the classroom or live online.

Following the training, you complete the qualification through a structured assessment process.

You will build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your ability to apply fire risk assessment principles in moderate risk environments. This includes written assignments, case-based work, and professional discussion, assessed against defined criteria.

All work is submitted through our online system and assessed by qualified assessors.

You have up to twelve months to complete the qualification, though many learners complete it sooner.

Once successfully completed, you will achieve a regulated Level 4 Certificate in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment.
